Dear Friends,
On June 28th, I was both humbled and honoured to have been re-elected by you the citizens of Etobicoke North, and to be returned once again to Ottawa as your voice in Government. I will continue to work hard to advance the priorities of our riding, and to promote Etobicoke North at every opportunity.
I am pleased to report to you that on the July 20th, 2004, I was sworn-in a member the Queens Privy Council of Canada to serve as Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Parliamentary Secretaries act as a two-way link between Ministers and Parliamentarians from all political parties in helping to advance the governments legislative priorities in a constructive and responsive manner. I was very pleased to take on this challenging and important role in Government.
I am committed to working cooperatively, both with other parties in the House of Commons, and with the provincial governments, as we implement the agenda we campaigned on during the recent federal election.
This election provided a clear message to the Liberal Party that Canadians expect more from their government - and you can be assured that we are listening. Canadians want and expect the new Parliament to function effectively and efficiently. That is exactly what our government and the newly installed cabinet will work to secure, especially given the unique challenges of a minority government.
I, along with our government, am looking forward to the challenges in the days and months and years ahead, I will work on behalf of all Canadians to build a better Canada. Thank you once again, and enjoy the summer!
Hon. Roy Cullen, P.C., M.P.
