Today's workshop will prepare us well for the GOPAC anti-money laundering sessions tomorrow and Friday and for the adoption of resolutions at the GOPAC plenary session on Saturday.

Tomorrow our panel discussion at 3:30 entitled Anti-Money Laundering and Recovery of Assets: The Two sides of the Coin (Part I)` will feature a panel of experts from the World Bank, the IMF, the Financial Action Task Force and the Edgmont Group. The purpose of this session will be to outline the basic concepts of money laundering and terrorist financing, and the global initiatives that are combating these problems.

On Friday Part II of this same workshop, at 3:45 pm, a panel of Parliamentarians will help us focus on an action agenda for GOPAC and a draft resolution for presentation to the plenary.

On Saturday we will debate and vote on a resolution which will guide GOPAC in the development and implementation of policies and programs designed to fight money laundering.

Congratulate World Bank for taking the initiative to organize and facilitate this workshop. Today's work will prepare us well for the sessions which follow and provide us with good information as we move GOPAC`s anti-money laundering agenda forward.
