(Population: 112,410)

Roy at Soheil
Etobicoke North is the area comprising of the northwestern region of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).  The riding of Etobicoke North is home to a diverse array of light industrial, service and commercial enterprises.  The average household income is $56,463.  The riding has a very multi-cultural flavor, with a large number of constituents of Italian, Punjabi, Somali, Ghanaian, Muslim and eastern European decent.
The riding has been traditionally Liberal ground, but in 1984, it joined over 200 other ridings nationwide in electing Progressive Conservative Members.  In 1988, however, Etobicoke North voters re-elected Roy MacLaren, who had originally been elected in the riding in 1979.  After winning again in the 1993 General Election, Mr. MacLaren accepted the position of High Commissioner of Great Britain in 1996, paving the way for a by-election.  Etobicoke North voters cast their ballots for Roy Cullen, who ran as the Liberal candidate in the 1996 by-election.  Mr. Cullen has been re-elected in Etobicoke North in the General Elections of 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006.
