Prime Ministers Task Force
Etobicoke - Roy Cullen, Member of Parliament for Etobicoke North, will be hosting a workshop on commercialization and technology transfer at MDS Health Group, 100 International Blvd. In
Etobicoke on October 18, 1996.
Roy Cullen is a member of the Prime Minister's Task Force on Commercializing Government Science Research. The task force is holding meetings across Canada to obtain input from businesses, labs,
agencies and universities involved in science and technology.
"The Liberal government believes that innovation spawns economic growth and jobs. The task force is consulting with Canadian businesses, scientists and other technology stakeholders for their
ideas and recommendations on how the federal government can move research and technology from government labs into the marketplace more quickly and effectively" said Cullen.
The MDS workshop will include participants from York University, the Bank of Montreal, the Alliance of Manufacturers and Exporters Canada, the Manufacturing Research Corporation of Ontario and
many others. They will be asked for their suggestions on the mandate of the task force --- finding ways to improve the commercialization of government science research. The results of the task
force consultations will be compiled in a report to the Prime Minister at the end of November.
