ROY CULLEN, P.C., M.P. NAMED AS FEDERAL LIBERAL CANDIDATE FOR ETOBICOKE NORTH
ETOBICOKE, ONTARIO-The Honourable Roy
Cullen was acclaimed last night as the Liberal candidate in the next federal election,
for the federal riding of Etobicoke North. In front
of a large crowd of supporters, officials from the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario)
confirmed Roy Cullen's nomination, officially declaring him the candidate and
the Liberal Party's choice to continue a strong tradition of Liberal representation
in the riding. "I am very proud to have served the residents
of Etobicoke North, with your support, in the House of Commons since 1996. I am
confident that we will return another Liberal M.P. to Ottawa in the next election,
whenever that might be. I thank you for the continued trust that you have placed
in me." Mr. Cullen told the crowd. "I pledge to respect that trust to
represent the voices of Etobicoke North in this 39th Parliament and to speak out
strongly on your behalf, and on behalf of all Canadians."
The Honourable
Roy Cullen has represented the riding of Etobicoke North since 1996, and is currently
the Official Opposition Critic for Natural Resources. He has previously served
as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, and Parliamentary Secretary
to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
He was sworn into the Privy Council of Canada in 2004, and has served as Chair
of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance, and Chair of the Ontario
