Roy Cullen, M.P. (Etobicoke North)

ETOBICOKE – Roy Cullen M.P. for Etobicoke North has been appointed the chair of two important committees. The first committee is the Liberal Caucus Sub-Committee on Corporate Governance. In the post Enron environment the Liberal Caucus has decided to examine the issue of corporate accountability with Mr. Cullen as chair.

"Corporate governance is a major concern to many Canadians." Cullen says. "As the events in the United States have shown - more attention must be given to ensuring financial accountability."

The second committee Mr. Cullen has been appointed to chair is the Sub-Committee on Public Service Renewal together with co-chair Mr. Paul Forseth M.P. (Canadian Alliance).

The Public Service Renewal Committee will examine various topics such as:

Succession planning in the federal public service;
Training and development in the federal public service;
Performance pay in the federal public service;
Recruitment & selection into the federal public service from various regions of Canada;
Risk-taking and rules based management in the federal public service and;
Managerial accountability in the federal public service.
"The federal public service is facing many new challenges in years ahead," says Cullen. "As the workforce in the public service begins to age, steps need to be taken to ensure a lasting and modern workforce is in place for future generations."
