Conservative Budget Fails Canadians: Cullen
Ottawa - The Honourable Roy Cullen, Official
Opposition Critic for Natural Resources, and Member of Parliament for
Etobicoke North, today denounced the Conservative Budget for ignoring
the Canadian Natural Resources sector and failing Canadians.
"This budget raises taxes for the lowest income Canadians,
fails to address climate change, fails to provide a real child care plan
or create child care spaces, fails to address the very pressing needs
of Canada's Aboriginal peoples, fails to exhibit any vision for Canada's
future prosperity, and has no significant investments in education or
innovation - in short, despite all the rhetoric, this budget fails many
Canadians," said Cullen.
"This is an attempt at old-fashioned vote buying, and
I think Canadians are smart enough to see it for what it is," said
Cullen.
"This budget promises $400 million for the forestry
industry, after canceling the $1.5 billion aid package that the Liberal
Government was going to deliver. It doesn't take an economist to understand
that they are getting short-changed. Further, the natural resource sector
is facing the crisis of an impending labour shortage, this budget does
nothing to address this," said Cullen.
"As with their Throne Speech, this budget turns its
back on Canadians, and the natural resources sector," said Cullen.
