January, 2003 ETOBICOKE – Roy Cullen, Member of Parliament for Etobicoke North, will host a Proposal Development Workshop for the National Crime Prevention Strategy at the Elmbank Community Centre at 10 Rampart Road on Thursday, 23 January, at 3:00 pm. With sixty-six non-government agencies from around Rexdale in attendance the Proposal Development Workshop for the National Crime Prevention Strategy promises to be a successful venue to inform stakeholders in Rexdale on the how to’s of participating in the $8.5 million of funding that the Honourable Martin Cauchon, Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Canada has provided to support 145 community-based prevention projects in the province. "There are a number of agencies in Etobicoke North who have successfully utilized this program," said Cullen, referring to the $150,000 the National Crime Prevention Strategy had awarded to Etobicoke North last year, "but much more needs to be done." The funding for these projects is being provided under the Community Mobilization Program of the National Strategy on Community Safety and Crime Prevention.
