Ontario Caucus Chair
Ottawa - Roy Cullen, M.P., Etobicoke North, was elected as Chair of the Ontario Liberal Caucus today. Ontario Caucus, which is comprised of 101 Members of Parliament, as well as 13 Senators, is
the second largest caucus in Parliament (second only to National Caucus).
As Ontario Caucus Chair Cullen will report to the Prime Minister, Cabinet and National Caucus on issues of importance to Ontario. "With 101 elected Liberal Members, Ontario is numerically
well-represented within our government. What is most important, however, is that Ontario's interests are articulated in a clear, strong, loud voice. As Caucus Chair I will ensure that when
an issue is important to Ontarians our government will be well aware of that fact" said Cullen.
The election took place by secret ballot in this morning's Ontario Caucus meeting. Each Ontario Liberal M.P. and Senator was entitled to vote. "It is an honour to have been elected by my peers
to fill this position. There is tremendous energy and talent in our caucus and I look forward to working with all members in this capacity. I would like to thank them for their support"
Cullen said.
