HON. ROY CULLEN, P.C., M.P. FOR ETOBICOKE NORTH TO SUPPORT MICHAEL IGNATIEFF IN LIBERAL PARTY OF CANADA LEADERSHIP BID

TORONTO, August 18, 2006 - Today the Honourable Roy Cullen, Official Opposition Critic for Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Etobicoke North, officially announced that he will be supporting Michael Ignatieff for the Leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada.

"This show of support means a great deal to me at this stage of the campaign when we are intensifying our efforts in view of delegate selection," said Michael Ignatieff.

"Michael understands very clearly that Liberal ideals of social justice are only achievable if the Canadian economy is sustainable, dynamic, and growing. He articulates this view credibly and can do so across the country in the next election. Michael and I share the belief that a robust national productivity strategy must be at the heart of the Liberal message," said Cullen.

The Honourable Roy Cullen has represented the riding of Etobicoke North since 1996. He is currently the Official Opposition Critic for Natural Resources. He has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. He has also served as Chair of the Ontario Liberal Caucus, and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance.
