Free
CA Tax Clinics - where eligible, low-income people can have their tax
returns completed, at no charge, by volunteer Chartered Accountants and CA students
- will take place across Ontario again this year. Sponsored by the institute of
Chartered Accountants of Ontario, the Free CA Tax Cllinics help thousands of low-income
individuals, many of whom are elderly, disabled or new to Canada. It should be
stressed that Child Tax Benefits and other tax credits are available to you even
when you have little or no taxable income. To by eligible for assistance at
a Free CA Tax Clinic, total household income must not exceed:
-
$15,000
for those without dependents; and -
$22,000
for those with dependents. If
you meet the eligibility requirements you can have your tax return completed at
a CA Tax Clinic without paying any fee. Free CA Tax Clinics are held in social
service agencies, libraries, seniors centres, and community organizations. They
are held from mid-February until the end of March. The Official kick-off of the
2003 Free CA Tax Clinic will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.
at the Institute of Chartered Accountants, 69 Bloor St. E. , Toronto. The
social service agencies, libraries, and community organizations, through which
the Free CA Tax Clinics have been arranged, provide other important community
services, co-sponsor the tax clinics. This means that when you go to a Free Ca
tax clinic, you will not only receive tax return help, but you will also
help strengthen an agency in your community that also provide other services. To
find out the location and times of the Free CA Tax Clinics closest to you, call
the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario's automated tax clinic line:
